English Language Arts (ELA)  class is a comfortable environment where students experience the joy that literature can bring and the power of written language.

With a mix of classic novels and modern, high-interest text, students learn how to delve into a story, using imagery and visualization.

Students learn that writing is an extension of communication.  We practice both verbal communication and written communication in ELA. In-class conversations about the texts we are reading springboard into writing assignments.

Grammar is explicitly taught with an individualized approach.  When students understand how improper grammar can change the message of their writing, they are more interested in learning it.
