Heather Guiney

English, Teacher Coordinator

Year 6 at The Accord School

Heather believes in the power of the written word and in teaching young people to unlock that power within themselves.

In her English classes, she stresses the importance of choice in both books and written work in order to hep students discover genres and styles that they enjoy.

Heather’s absolute favorite thing to do is read, particularly young adult literature. She has worked to create a diverse classroom library that will entice both avid readers and the somewhat reluctant ones, and she never tires from searching for the right book for the right student.

Heather received her special education degree from the University of Maine and is in the process of pursuing a school counseling degree from UMass Boston. Prior to joining the Accord School, Heather taught at Boston College High School. When she’s not reading, she is spending time with her family, which includes a thirteen year old daughter, a giant golden doodle, and a miniature labradoodle.
