SMALL GROUP SUMMER READING AND CREATIVITY THAT MIDDLE SCHOOLERS WILL LOVE

Join The Accord School’s ELA Teacher Heather Guiney and Art Teacher Lisa Grize this August for a creative class that is so much fun, they won’t even realize they are accomplishing something!

If your child needs to do a little summer reading, and might also be interested in learning how to write their own graphic novel, then this summer mini course will be perfect for them.

Students will participate in a group read (TBD) graphic novel together. They will analyze the author and artist choices in the graphic novel, as well as look at some of their other works. Students will learn and practice narrative writing style and brainstorm topics for our own personal graphic story. We will work to design and to create a multiple panel graphic story with prose or poetry connected to their drawings.  By the end of this four day session, students will have read a summer reading book and be well on their way to creating their own graphic novel!
